Contains photographs of the following military unit: 1st Armored Division, III (3rd) Corps. General description of the collection: The William S. Biddle photograph collection consists of the highlights of Major General's Biddle's career. Several of his assignments are heavily covered by photos such as the Lytton Commission of 1932 with General Frank McCoy; as commanding general, 1st Armored Division at Fort Hood (1953 to 1955); as chief, MAAG, Japan (1955 to 1957); as commanding general, III Corps at Fort Hood (1958); and as senior member, UNC-MAC, in Korea (1959). There is also coverage of his retirement at Fort Sheridan in 1960. Although he served overseas during WWII and was involved in many other things, there is little or no photographic coverage of them.

William S. Biddle was a United States Army officer who was an aide of diplomat Frank McCoy and served with the Lytton Commission investigating the Manchurian Incident of 1931. He also served in World War II in the North African campaigns and the European Theater of Operations and was senior advisor to the Japanese Self-Defence Force, Korean Armistice Commission.
